ETF Assets and Net Issuance
Washington, DC, May 28, 2026—The combined assets of the nation’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $14.80 trillion in April, according to ICI. The Institute’s monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds.
Statistics contained in the Institute’s monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds and commodity funds. Commodity funds are listed in the Domestic (Sector/Industry) category.

Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in April by $1.25 trillion, or 9.2 percent, to $14.80 trillion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $4.38 trillion, or 42.0 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $2.76 trillion since April 2025, and global equity ETF assets rose $916.53 billion during this period. At the end of April 2026, assets of bond funds were $2.44 trillion and hybrid funds were $52.26 billion and commodity funds were $367.88 billion.
During April, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $164.9 billion. In April 2025, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $56.39 billion.
